February 2011 President’s Message

Hello Lac du Cours Residents!

Winter was “meowing” along until this week, wouldn’t you agree? It was great seeing our lake used so much, before all of this snow. Where was the ice boat though? I witnessed ice skaters going around the entire lake, and cross country skiers doing the same, once there was enough snow. A good deal of hockey was played in front of the beach area, as the smashed plastic garbage barrels can attest. They were unable to stop speeding bullets, {called ‘pucks’}, I guess. And now there has been a good deal of sledding from the pool fence, down to the lake. It’s nice to have that lake be an asset in winter, too. Lou Henneck warns that there are some dormant springs in the lake, that sometimes start bubbling up. He has placed some orange cones on the ice to warn us to stay clear of these areas.

The minutes of the past meetings are attached for your review. I would ask readers to consider giving me your name if you feel you would like to be proposed as a board member, and serve LDC for a three year term. A group of “past presidents”, including the outgoing one, meet to discuss candidates that we then put forth to the HO Assn. The new term begins in May. Please give this your consideration. I can be reached at hnoyes@loyda.com, or 242-9987.

Clubhouse rentals are coming in for the new season. Chris Korjenek is handling these matters now, and can be reached at czip@wi.rr.com, or at home at 643-4237 or by cell 414-507-2326. Chris attended our last board meeting, and has a pretty good handle on what goes on around LDC.

ODDS AND ENDS…..Lisa Wooll will be returning to handle the duties of running our pool operations this coming season…. The tennis courts are to be resurfaced and painted, the first opportunity in the spring, when earth temperatures permit. We are first on the docket! … Curtains are ordered for the clubhouse, which ought to help with the acoustics in there, which is a complaint we hear often…. As a reminder, the parking stalls in our courts are not to be abused by people parking vehicles, trailers, boats and the like. Prolonged parking in them can lead to a towing, at the owners expense. The Mequon police are aware of this, as well as a few abusers. Please be advised! We are not a parking lot.

Interested in helping beautify our grounds, around the clubhouse, or at our entrances? Five of our residents have already expressed this interest. Please contact Chris Korjenek, Jeff Wenzler, or Jennifer Feldman. All can be found in the LDC Directory. Look for 2011’s Directory info sheet soon!!!!!!!

Hopefully we will all be rooting on our PACKERS in the SUPER BOWL [This was obviously written before Sunday–Michael]. GO PACK!!!!
