Hope everyone’s summer is off to a great start. There has been a lot of activity at the pool with all of the hot, sunny days as of late. To that end, we wanted to socialize a couple important changes – mostly around pool safety – that we have implemented in the last week. Pool umbrellas: In order to reduce risk of flying umbrellas in high winds, we have decided to create a more permanent solution to secure them to the bases. The umbrellas will no longer be put away every night but will remain at the tables, secured, for the summer. Please continue to exercise caution in high wind conditions and consider lowering the umbrellas in those circumstances to ensure the most safe situation for all. Big thanks to Burgundy Court handymen Joe Timm and James Gefke for making this happen. If there are issues with the umbrellas, please reach out to Keri, Kiersti or Kim Zaiss – as opposed to the lifeguards – so that the lifeguards can remain focused on the pool. Lifeguard protocols: Whenever one or more people are in the pool, one guard will be located in the shallow end and one will be located in the deep end. Also, starting this weekend the guards will be equipped with whistles to enforce pool rule compliance or to signal an emergency. Pool injuries/emergencies: If there is an injury or emergency at the pool the guards will blow whistles and will clear the pool until the emergency or injury is under control. Please share this with your families and encourage cooperation. Guards will now be filling out incident reports after an emergency/injury so we know who was injured and what actions were taken. See you at the pool soon, Keri Thayer & Kiersti Gefke |
