The City of Mequon will be coming through either late next week or the following week to address the overgrowth of brush and trees in Lac Du Cours as they pertain to our culverts, ditches and roads only. They will be cutting back all brush within the 20 foot easement, and we have negotiated that they will also cut back an additional five feet beyond that as well. City of Mequon will primarily focus on our main roads (Le Grande, Le Mont) and will be the first step in our Grounds 2014 Plan. The Grounds Team has been working with City of Mequon all summer to negotiate this, and since we won’t have to have a private landscaper do this initial overgrowth cutback, it will save us approximately $40,000. They will remove all buckthorn (YAY!) in the easement as well as address trees that are overhanging the road so long as the specific tree does not fall within the WE Energies jurisdiction. WE Energies is slated to come in and address trees in LDC that threaten power lines sometime later in the Winter. We continue to sit as a top priority for their Winter Forestry Plan.
