December 2010 President’s Message

Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas, LDC-ers!

As we enter the holiday season, we can be thankful for many reasons. The reasons vary from household to household, but we in LDC continue to be fortunate to live in a great community. I thank new clubhouse manager Chris Korjenek and husband Dennis for decorating a tree that they donated and decorated in the clubhouse. Chris checked with me, and the residents who are renting the building this season, and no one objected. I suspect all actually loved the idea!

Our grounds are as cleaned up as they are going to get. I felt sorry for the weather challenges both BELLA & JULIUS had the fall, which caused delay after delay. I would assemble a few good volenteers, only to lose the work opportunity to rain! Soaked leaves don’t get sucked into a leaf pick up truck any easier than sticks, branches, decorations, balls, or plastic hanging planters. As a reminder, I communicated that if branches were to be chipped up, the stems had to be lined up, facing the pavement. Neither BELLA or JULIUS can suck or chip a mixed pile of fall lawn debris put out at the curb. THAT is why LDC has a trailer! There were just shy of 100 usages of that this year. The dump in Mequon is now closed for the season, so special arrangements will have to be made by residents, themselves. And as my “Grounds” budget is shot and gone for this year, …

Please see the minutes of the Annual Fall Budget Meeting held in November. Thanks to those attending, and just as importantly, those who signed proxies, as we just had enough to hold our meeting! Appreciation of good work by your board was expressed by several attendees at the meeting, and believe me, it was appreciated by all of us board members! We all put in a bunch of volunteer hours, and receiving praise and thanks helps!

Enjoy the holidays, and be safe!
