October 2011 President’s Message

Thanks to everyone that volunteered and participated in the 2011 LDC Day on Sunday September 4th – with special thanks to Chrissie Contardi (and her faithful corn roaster) for doing a great job with the planning and organization of the day! While Chrissie was unable to actually attend the party she worked hard to plan, we all enjoyed the fruits of her labor. There are many others that deserve thanks for their behind the scenes work leading up to and the day of the party – I’m afraid I don’t have everyone’s name but you know who you are and THANK YOU for all your efforts! The weather was a little cool and it rained a little in the evening, but all in all it was a wonderful day.

We’ve transitioned into fall and we once again had our LDC Fall Clean Up Volunteer Day on Saturday October 8th to ready the clubhouse/pool/tennis courts/beach for winter. Thanks to everyone that came down to help out – I apologize as I do not have a complete list of everyone that was able to volunteer, but you know who you are and THANK YOU to all for helping out! The weather was gorgeous and in a couple short hours everything was readied for winter.

Leaf pickup has once again been coordinated for LDC as a whole. Bella Landscaping will be picking up leaves on Wednesday October 19th (rain date Wednesday October 26th) and Wednesday November 9th (rain date Wednesday November 16th). As a reminder (and you are going to keep hearing this) – the leaf pickup is for leaves only. Please do not include sticks, grass clippings, or other yard waste in your leaf piles as this will clog and/or severely damage the leaf pickup equipment. If your leaf pile includes things other than leaves it will not be picked up and you will be responsible for proper disposal. As a reminder, it is a violation of LDC bylaws to deposit leaves, and all other yard waste, on any common areas of LDC.

Lastly, the LDC Board is in process of drafting the 2012 LDC Budget, to be formally presented and voted upon at the Wednesday November 16th LDC Homes Association meeting. Similar to last year, we anticipate distributing to residents a copy of the proposed 2012 budget, with analysis of the 2011 budget to actual results, approximately two weeks before the meeting. Please watch your email/mailboxes for this important communication. If anyone has ideas, thoughts, or considerations for inclusion in the 2012 budget please reach out to me or any of the other LDC Board members as soon as possible so we can incorporate these items into the budget preparation process.
