It looks like spring has definitely sprung – and early! I’m no weatherman and I’m not prone to ask too many “why” questions when the weather is this nice, I’m just enjoying it (as is my WE Energies bill!). The courts are alive with kids riding bikes, playing basketball, and just being kids. With that – another reminder to please drive carefully, slow down, and keep a watch for kids!
During February we welcomed new Board member Amy Speich to fill the open position. Amy will be taking over the Pool from Gary as Gary transitions to the Treasurer role due to my Board term ending this coming May. For those of you that are new to LDC – the current Board members and roles are as follows: Jason Parsons, President and Treasurer; Roger Lindo, Vice President and Clubhouse; Michael Levin, Secretary and Communications; Stacey Names, Recreation; Kerri Schanowski, Social; Steve Lauenstein, Lake; Gary Feldman, Treasurer; Chrissy Contardi, Security; and, Amy Speich, Pool. Roger’s, Michael’s, and my terms are up this May. After the May homeowners meeting we will provide an update so all residents know who is on the Board and what role the fill going forward. We are also in process of identifying those interested in coming on to the Board this May. If you have interest in running for one of the three open positions this May, please contact myself or one of the other current LDC Board members. As per the by-laws, the past LDC President’s have been reaching out to potential candidates, but we’d also love to hear from some of our newer homeowners that have an interest in becoming involved.
We will soon be scheduling a Spring LDC Help Day to move out of storage things like the pool furniture, stain and re-install the pier, and perform some basic “spring cleaning” landscape work around the clubhouse like spreading woodchips in the picnic woods and clearing winter debris. With the incredible weather we’ve had, the tennis nets are already up! Please watch for a message from Michael as to the date and mark your calendars. It’s a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and spend a couple hours helping to keep LDC the special place it is.
The LDC website is currently under construction. We hope to have this up and running and available to all residents in the near term. The site is being designed to assist in the scheduling of renting the clubhouse, signing up for recreation activities, an archive of all things LDC, as a real time communication tool to update everyone as to the goings on in LDC, and much more. It will be a secure site requiring a user name and pass word to gain access such that all information beyond the home page will not be accessible to non-residents of LDC. We hope to debut this exciting technology change to all in the very near future!
The reconstruction of the sidewalks near the clubhouse parking lot should be starting soon to ensure this is complete ahead of the Memorial Day weekend opening of the pool. During the construction, please remind your kids to use caution and to stay away from the area so no one gets injured.
Lastly – a reminder that assessments are due by March 31st. Thank you to those that have already remitted payment to the LDC PO Box or directly to our faithful LDC accountant Brad Brogan. The preferred method for submitting payment is to mail a check to LDC Homes Association at PO Box 512, Mequon, WI 53092.
It’s hard to believe my three years is almost up. It’s been a great and rewarding experience to be part of this Board the last three years and your President this past year. I hope you feel I have served you well.
